Melodyland Course

The Melodyland early years music course musically leads a child from babyhood to 5 years old age, by providing age appropriate musical activities and opportunities for playful learning. It builds a strong foundation for further musical, instrumental learning. A child can start the course at any time, choosing the relevant age group stage.
There is one 30 min weekly 1:1 session with each child.

Individual 1:1 Music Sessions for under 6s

Melodyland offers a unique opportunity to have regular music sessions in a form of 1:1 individual course for early years children. It allows to shape and adapt the whole course around the child’s interests and preferred sound worlds, applying the most suitable learning methods. The child has plenty of room for self-expression and the pace of the sessions is very flexible – fully following the child’s understanding, abilities and current emotional state.

What do we do?

The classes aim to develop love of music within a child. Musical games, exercises and activities stand at the heart of the course. We move, we sing, we play, we make sounds, we read, we write, we listen, we explore, we experiment and we constantly learn while having fun!

Through playful musical activities and musical immersion, children subconsciously learn and internalize the key features and concepts of music. This process gradually develops musical awareness, understanding and skills. All areas of child’s development are majorly enhanced by the musical exercises, aiding children to unfold their highest potential and confident self-expression.

And how?

We make connections between music/sound and movement. Thus the musical concepts and terms are internalized in a much deeper level.

Our approach to learning music is strongly linked with the process of learning to talk. Music is a language we learn to understand and speak.

The sessions always include something for the ear, something for the eye, something for the intellect and something for the heart (following Kodaly’s advice). We constantly connect aural, visual, intellectual and emotional experiences to ensure the most effective way of learning – simultaneous learning.

What is the structure of the course?

The course is divided into 4 stages by age groups. The stages successively lead a child through their musical path from babyhood to 5 years old age. Our goal is to build a strong musical foundation within each child by the end of the course. Resulting in a seamless and natural transition into further vocal/instrumental learning.

Note, that a child can join the course at any point and any stage that is appropriate for her/his age.
